Tokyo on a shoestring: 10 days solo

Tokyo gets a "too expensive" reputation that just isn't true if you eat like a local. Conveyor-belt sushi, standing soba bars, and konbini breakfasts kept my food budget tiny and the food was incredible.
Eating alone here is a non-event — counter seating is everywhere and nobody bats an eye. That alone made it the most comfortable solo city I've visited.
Get a Suica card on arrival and stay near a Yamanote line stop. I based in Shinjuku, which sounds chaotic but made every day trip painless.
Where I stayed
A capsule hotel in Shinjuku for the experience, then a cheap business hotel near the station. Both spotless.
Safety notes
Possibly the safest big city I have been to solo. Standard awareness in nightlife areas like Kabukicho is enough.
